John Powell

I would like to take this time to thank you on helping me in my throwing technique and being concerned of my progress. By learning what I did at camp last year I used your technique to set many personal records during the year. I know if I wouldn't have attended your camp I would not have met my long-time goal of winning the state championship in the discus while breaking the Illinois Class A state record with a toss of 184'3". The previous record was 181'10", which I broke many times during the year. From the camp I made a jump from 166'7" as a junior to 184'3" as a senior, and without your help I would have not been able to get over the 170-175 ft. mark. Also, I placed 12th at state in the shot put with a throw of 49'9", but my PR was 51'1". I thought I didn't do too bad since it was my first year of throwing the shot in every meet. I was also very excited to hear from you when you called and ask how my throwing was going. Its not every day I get a call from an Olympian!

By throwing like I did this season I received a full track scholarship to
Murray State University in Murray, KY. It is a NCAA Division I college, so I will be able to compete against the best in the country.

Thanks again for your help and concern of throwing the discus. If I wouldn't have gained the knowledge you had shared I wouldn't have had this record breaking season!

Sincerely,

Garrett Middleton
